tasting notes
A warm scent of cocoa, blackberry, blueberry, licorice and herbs opens up this beautiful Syrah. It is darkand inky. In the glass, notes of blueberry, plum, nutmeg, cinnamon and star anise reveal a young structured wine that is both full and yet soft and velvety. As it aerates, it becomes expansive, mouthcoating with blackberry, tar fruit shine through. It has plenty of wood but it is well integrated, not oaky. While it is immensely enjoyable now, the young exuberance will mellow out in your cellar to reward a special bottle in the next dozen years. We recently open a 2005 syrah of ours and discovered how well it aged. Can anyone think of a better wine to pair with wintry dishes than a Syrah? Caldo Verde, Seafood Gumbo, Ribollita and Posole come to mind.
